ANTHROPOCENE DRIFT

Glaciers are representing a message that comes from afar and that it is interesting to listen.
Snows that we cannot call perennial anymore; because, everywhere in the world, glaciers millions of years old are quickly thinning and melting, becoming water that grows with all consequences this transformation matters.
Growing sea level not only represents a problem for the erosion of coastal areas, but it could create a migration crisis never seen before for those who live and work on those lands.
There is already talk of climatic migrations.
Current era, renamed by someone “Anthropocene” and that coincides with a the start of the “great acceleration” in the Mid of XX Century, represents the very moment in which human being is a force capable of influencing global ecology.
The photographs I have selected are belonging to the series “The derive of Anthropocene”, part of the massive work I am doing since years “Parallels, Interferences, Disappearances”.
The series contemplates photographs of glaciers, icebergs, rocks, water; photographs that are also connected with Celestial Body, White fire, Water on the moon and Illimite.
These are visions where I manage to perceivethe sense of suspension, silence and wait, scenarios where we could see something over our daily terrestrial perception.
I am analysing the paradoxe of Anthropocene man, a human being that is super connected, over informed and also super lonely; apparently omnipotent and, in reality, super fragile and ephemeral.
This means humans orphans of miths, desperately looking for immortality.
In this scenario, melting of glaciers, erosions of territory, derives of icebergs are sharing with us a destiny made of loneliness and precariousness.
Here i present 8 images taken from the recent series which includes, in addition to numerous photographs, also installations projects.
